Brunch

Who doesn’t love a good brunch? DC is full of every type of brunch spot you can imagine! You can try out a hole-in-the-wall nook, head over to a homey hipster hideaway, or keep it classy at a fancy breakfast.

Lansdowne Resort and Spa

There’s nothing more relaxing than enjoying your mimosa after a facial! At the Lansdowne Resort and Spa this May there will be a brunch to remember. The Mother’s Day brunch menu includes Virginia honey ham, dim sum, a variety of risotto, and so much more.

Brunch will begin at 11 am and will run until 3 pm, giving you plenty of time to get out and celebrate. Younger guests are more than welcome to join in the fun, and even get a discounted price.

You don’t have to stop at brunch with this location! Lansdowne Resort and Spa has packages for full body massages, facials, and skin treatments. There’s something that will fit every mom out there.

Brunch And Bubbly

Here’s a unique twist on your brunch – what if you learned to make it yourself? Brunch with Bubbly is hosted by chef Jennifer Jones. She not only serves you great food, she teaches you how to make it yourself!

This Mother’s Day, the menu will be featuring berries and cream stuffed french toast, basil chicken kiev, roasted spring salad, and a peach and basil mimosa. Talk about delicious!

At the end of the brunch, you’ll go home with some wonderful recipes. Who knows? Maybe next year you’ll be teaching the class!

Coffee Time

Not everyone has a whole morning to spare, but everyone has a quick minute to grab a cup of coffee! There are some unique places you can take your momma to celebrate her day this Mother’s Day.

Afternoon Tea

Lady Camellia is a great place to take mom if you’re looking for a classy afternoon out. This cozy little teahouse has an assortment of afternoon teas that you can enjoy.

The simplest tea option is the cream tea, which includes one pot of tea and three pastries. The most elaborate tea you can choose is either the High Tea or the Full Tea. Both these options come with a pot of tea, 3 croissants or scones, 4 pastries, and either a meat pie or tea sandwiches.

Whatever style tea you choose, there’s certainly an option out there that will be perfect for you and your mom. If you’re coming with little ones, you can always choose the Children’s Tea.

Crumbs & Whiskers

Okay, let’s be honest. Who doesn’t want to spend a few hours snuggling with kittens over coffee? A wonderful way to show your mom how much you love her than to take her down to Crumbs & Whiskers and hang out with the cats!

This cat cafe is located in Georgetown right near the water. You can grab one of the coffee shop’s delicious lattes as you snuggle a cat.

Better yet, this Mother’s Day you can step in and check out the kitten pop-up! This room is available through June and is specifically for kittens.

Arts and Crafts

If you and your mom are into arts and crafts, there are some neat ways to spend Mother’s Day together.

Muse Paint Bar

The Muse Paint Bar in Washington DC has several different locations, so you can stay close to home!

Muse Paintbar is a unique spot where you paint with the help of a professional all while sipping on wine!

You can reserve your seat online and select the painting you’d like to learn to create. Come hungry for dessert, and enjoy a fudge brownie with your Sangria.

Silver Spring Craft Fair

You’ll need to venture a little bit out of the city for this one, but for those who love outdoor craft fairs and craft shows, this is the place to be!

Silver Spring hosts a Mother’s Day craft fair every year. The craft fair has a variety of vendors that will be selling their wares for you and your mom to take home. There will be food, music, and so many crafts.

You can also enjoy this spot free of charge, as the event is 100% free to attend.

DC Tours

We live in a beautiful city here at DARO, so why not make the most of it for Mother’s Day? Take advantage of the gorgeous sights to see and bring your mom along on a sweet DC tour.

River Cruise

There’s nothing quite like cruising down the Potomac on a Summer afternoon. The golden light will fall softly over the city as you enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and delicious roast chicken.

There are several different river cruises you can take down the Potomac. The most popular option is Spirit River cruises, which have options for brunch as well as dinner.

The Spirit dinner menu offers interactive games and a live DJ as you cruise past beautiful DC monuments. The dinner itself is buffet style, so you can eat as much as your stomach can handle!

Hot Air Balloon

Wanting to see DC from a new point of view? Head over to the Preakness Balloon Festival on May 12th and take your mom for a joy ride in the sky!

Freeride balloons are $250, but if you want to enjoy the tour safely tethered to the ground you can take mom up for only $150. It’s certainly a Mother’s Day she’ll remember!
